Intermodal Supply Chain Visibility Project
GS1 Australia is an integral member of the Australian Logistics Council’s Supply Chain Standards Working Group.
This group recently concluded an intermodal visibility pilot, which involved using the GS1 EPCIS standard in three logistics supply chains operated by Nestlé Australia, OneSteel and The Reject Shop.
Following the multi-modal, east-west coast corridor, the project aimed to demonstrate how adopting the GS1 EPCIS standard could deliver greater supply chain visibility.
Through the project, we also assessed the challenges associated with implementing a common standard across supply chain partners who were operating different information management systems and with varying degrees of complexity.
